Barley news UK: Centaur's national malting barley specialist Adrian Fisher to head the East Anglia office

Centaur Grain underlined June 05 its commitment to East Anglia's arable farmers in East Anglia by expanding the company's regional office at Aylsham, EDP Business communicated June 06.

The farmer-owned business, which has more than 1,800 members and markets more than 1.7 million tonnes of grain, pulses and oilseeds annually, recognises the region's importance as the country's “breadbasket.”

Headed by Adrian Fisher, Centaur's national malting barley specialist, the East Anglia office will focus on marketing grain and pulses produced by members in the region.

Oilseed and biofuel contracts will be handled from the company's other regional office at Park Farm, Bury St Edmunds.

The north Norfolk office is the base for some of the company's most experienced staff and export manager Glenn Mason, wheat manager Paul Dowson and farm services' managers James Stretton and Jake van Portvliet.

They are all experts in the broader commodities market and can make decisions on any aspect of crop marketing across the eastern Counties.

Mr Fisher said: “The market is becoming increasingly complex and with many farmers under increasing pressure they lack the time and information required to optimise the marketing their crops.

“Centaur Grain recognises the importance of providing direct access to a team of experts, each of whom is able to provide advice on any aspect of the member's crop marketing programme and acts as an extension of their own office. Because we charge a fixed marketing fee our advice is completely unbiased.”

Farm services' manager Mr van Portvliet highlighted that an increasingly important benefit of dealing with Centaur Grain was the credit insurance, which is provided as part of the marketing fee to underwrite every contract, removing the risk of non-payment, a major source of concern for many farmers.
